- Permanent makeup gets absorbed into the body after time.
- Organic pigments are the best pigments because they are “natural”.
- Tattoo and permanent makeup are totally different.
- I only want to use a pigment that is FDA approved.
- Semi – permanent makeup is different than permanent makeup.
These are serious statements that professional permanent makeup artists should know the facts about before they make these statements. The public should be informed and educated based on fact and not opinion. Educated clients make the best clients. I will address these questions in detail in the next few weeks. I intend to address these statements with detailed, comprehensive information.
Here is a link that has some good consumer info you can check out until I gather my facts and post them here! http://cosmetic-tattoo.blogspot.com/ and http://birthingalternatives.com/news/do-you-tattoo-permanent-cosmetics.html

Permanent makeup professionals, please feel free to comment on these matters!
I like that you are talking about these topics but as a permanent makeup artist myself, I don’t agree with your organic and inorganic article entirely. I have been doing permanent makeup almost 2 years but have been a cosmetologist for 9 years and I have not been asked about my pigments more than twice. I was trained by a lady who uses organic and so do I. They are natural and not fake. The body wants natural product in the skin. Also I don’t do the hair stroke but my work looks very nice. You don’t have to be a painter to be a good permanent makeup artist. I have a very good teacher. If you have a good teacher you can learn permanent makeup. For me this is true. The ladies I have done say they like my work very much.
Shelly,
Thank you for taking the time to comment on my articles. I am a bit confused as to what you do not agree with in my article on organic and iron oxide based pigments. I simply address the facts that are backed by physicians, experts, studies and the FDA. If you read the article, you would see that “organic” is not really organic or natural at all. Many experts including myself have encountered reactions to the so called “organic” type pigments. Based on the facts and my experience, I have decided to stick with the tried and true pigments (inorganic) that have never given me a reason to be concerned.
In no way have I stated that you have to be a artist of paint and canvas to be a permanent makeup technician. I have seen some good work from technicians who are not artists. I agree that a good education and quality instruction can help mold a permanent makeup professional. Im sure you produce lovely work if your clients are happy and that is what is really important.
